What is Android?

             Android is a mobile based operating system and written above Linux kernel. It's mainly designed for touch screen mobile phones and tablets. Android was developed by the Consortium of developers by Open-Handset Alliance and officially sponsored by Google. Android was finally announced in 2007. The first android mobile is the HTC Dream. It launched in September 2008.

Android History

             Android Inc is a start-up company founded in October 2003 by 3 three members. The early intention of this company was developing an advanced operating system for digital cameras.  But the company noticed the digital camera market is not going long. They changed our decisions to make Android a handset operating system. At that time Symbian was most popular in Windows mobile.

Google Acquired Android

             In July 2005, Google acquired Android for $50 Million. At that time Google team lead by Android founder Rubin developed a device platform by Linux Kernel.  Google markets the android to all handset makers on the promise of providing a flexible, upgradable system. Finally Google lined up all hardware and software partners and opened up to degrees of cooperation.

On November 5 2007, Open handset alliance, a consortium of technology companies including the google, device manufacturers as Motorola, Samsung, HTC, sprint & T-Mobiles. Chipset makers Qualcomm and Texas instruments unveiled themselves with a goal of a truly open source comprehensive platform for mobile devices.
